There are over 400 companies recognized throughout the U.S, and South Texas Solar Systems continues to be one of them.

According to recent publishing in Solar Power World, Solar Power World, the solar industry’s leading business-to-business publication, today announces the release of the 2020 Top Solar Contractors list. The Top Solar Contractors list is the most recognized annual listing of solar contractors in the United States working in the utility, commercial and residential markets.”

The article goes on to state, “The Solar Power World team is so pleased to highlight more than 400 companies on the 2020 Top Solar Contractors list, especially during this unprecedented time,” said Kelsey Misbrener, senior editor of Solar Power World.

“All contractors featured on the 2020 list reported strong 2019 installation numbers and are continuing to stand tall this year.”

This year South Texas Solar Systems has kept a steady employee rate during the COVID-19 pandemic. STSS listed their employee status as 70, primary market: residential, primary service: rooftop contractor, total Kw installed since founding: 17,793, and Kw installed in 2019: 4,854.2.

Have you been thinking about getting solar panels in Texas?

Let us show you why you should stop renting your power and use the sun to build more equity in your home with Solar Panels. Here’s 3 reasons why now is the best year to get solar panels in Texas.

They say that Texas is the hottest state in the US. We have warm weather the majority of the year, causing us to crank up the volume our air conditioners year-round. Which in turn costs us thousands of dollars from utility companies.  We’re here to tell you that those high temperatures will keep rising and so will the cost of your electricity company. Moreover, going solar in Texas is the only solution to keep your home’s temperature low and those energy bills even lower. So why is now the best time to switch to solar in Texas?

1) Solar Panel Prices are at an all time low

The rising cost of electricity plus the fact that going solar is more affordable than ever, provides more than enough encouragement for Texas homeowners to switch to solar. Pricing for Solar Panels in Texas have fallen 40% over the last 5 years, with over 70,587 Installations.. In Texas, solar panel  owners are a growing industry, making it more affordable for people to obtain them. Moreover, light companies increase their rates about 8% or more year after year. Needless to say, the sooner you get solar and generate your own power the more money you’ll be saving.

2) Federal Tax Credit and Texas solar panel incentives–

If you want the fastest ROI for your solar investment, do not wait. Why? Because the federal government is currently rewarding smart homeowners with a lucrative 26% tax credit for investing in solar energy. During 2019, the Income Tax Credit was 30%, then ITC steps down to 26% in 2020, then to 22% in 2021, and it completely disappears for homeowners in 2022. The 4% decreases each year is certainly noticeable, however, the current 26% is still a significant savings potential.

Also, there’s a lot of Texas solar panel incentives that help your overall system cost. There are many affordable financing options for solar panel systems.

One of them being Sunlight financial, which is offering the lowest interest rate of 1.99% for 20 years.

3) Net Metering Buy-Back Programs

They say that everything is bigger in Texas. We for one, agree in that a lot of our customers’ homes are big. Which in turn, allows us to install the complete amount of solar panels that they need. How many solar panels your home will need will depend on your home’s yearly energy consumption.

So if you’re able to install the needed solar panels in Texas that will produce 100% of your energy, you can sell back excess energy back to the grid. It’s called Net Metering or buyback programs and they’re very beneficial for owners of solar energy in Texas.

In sum, there is no better time for homeowners in Texas to go solar and take advantage of the lower prices, federal tax credit and incentives and the buyback programs. All here to help you pay for a solar power system, which will reduce or eliminate your electric bill.

Some may agree that due to the displacement of an economic downturn is the reason our cost of living may be rising.

While some homeowners are setting up shop at home with an off-grid solar system, others are settling into the new ownership of energy with residential solar panels.

Either way, solar power is helping consumers save money and benefit from it.

Take a look at an off-grid solar system and what it can do.

Did you know an off grid solar system can grant your usage to become 100 percent offset? Not only will you be off-grid, but will no longer be tied to a utility provider; unless you had a gas fee owed.

Looking at all the options to go solar is good too.

Most homeowners choose residential solar panels and have them installed on their rooftop. Some homeowners prefer a ground mount solar system, which does not get installed on the roof and can be designed as an off-grid solar system too.

No matter what type of solar system you seek, whether it be an off-grid solar system or not, it’s smart to know what your rebates are in the area and incentives. You can include those in both designs.

There is only five months left for homeowners or business owners to receive up to a 26 percent tax credit from the Federal Government this year when switching to solar power.

The amount calculates to about $5,069, which most consumers apply to their total cost of system. This incentive saves you a large amount of money and puts you one step closer to having no payments.

There is good news you still have time to apply for the tax credit and speak with your financial advisor on the process. The bad news could be that this incentive will go down after 2020, and go away after 2022.

According to a recent article on Solar Power World, the H.R.2 Act, also know as the “Moving Forward Act”, should be voted on before July 4.

“Many solar and storage provisions are included in the bill, including:

  • 5-year extension of Sec. 48 and 25D of the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) at 30% through 2025, followed by a two-year phase-down (2026 at 26% and 2027 at 22%)
  • Direct pay proposal at 85% for section 48 qualifying projects for the same amount of time as the PTC/ITC credits exist
  • Storage ITC
  • Proposals to incentivize investment in clean energy for low income and underserved communities
  • Tax credits for clean energy manufacturing
  • Grid modernization provisions
  • Funds for transmission planning with a requirement to account for renewable energy generation
  • Grant program for solar installation in low-income and underserved communities
  • Funds for renewable energy installation in community institutions, such as schools
  • Improvements to public lands renewable energy development programs

The above information was provided by industry advocacy group Solar Energy Industries Association,” according to Solar Power World.

You’ve done your research, and have finally decided, I want to get solar panels! Well, good for you! You’ll be savings the planet and thousands of dollars year after year.

But switching to solar energy is no walk in the park. It’s a serious investment for the next 30 years of your life. But don’t worry, we’re here to walk you through what you should look out for when shopping for solar panels near you, specifically south Texas.

Firstly, imagine the solar company you bought your solar panels from goes bankrupt.

Who will come fix your panels or your inverter or your roof if something happens? You will have to look for another solar company to come rectify the issues that your bankrupt solar company left behind, costing you thousands! That said, watch out for Solar Panel Companies Near your area that offer you the cheapest quote, because it’s likely their margins are razon thin, thus not able to continue operating.

Remember next time you google solar panels near me, that a solar company offering you the lowest priced panels in your area is more than likely is cutting cost somewhere.

Secondly, we recommend that you carefully investigate exactly what warranties the solar companies near you are offering.

Remember, your solar panels are designed to produce energy for you for the next 30 years or longer.

Needless to say, warranties and service protection and yearly cleanings on your solar system is crucial to the success of maximizing your investment.

Most importantly, some solar companies  sell you panels that do NOT come with a 25-year panel guard warranty.

On the other hand, South Texas Solar Systems is one of the few Panasonic Premium Installers in Texas that offer your system a 25 year protection warranty, free maintenance and cleaning service.

You will never have to wonder who to call if you need assistance.

Thirdly, be wary of companies claiming to offer you the lowest price for Solar Panels near your area.

As mentioned earlier, a big factor could very well be that they don’t offer panel guard warranties and won’t go service your panels in case of an emergency.

Moreover, they could be cutting cost by hiring poorly trained installers, which can lead to serious workmanship faults like unsecured roofs, or electrical failures.

Which in turn, will cost you more in the long run. Conversely, Panasonic recognized our company, South Texas Solar Systems, as one of the highest-performing solar installers in 2019.

Additionally, it could be a sign that they’re not offering you the best products.

The best products offer efficiency and performance, which are factors you WANT to become aware of with any solar panel you purchase.

Take a look at some of the high-quality brands offered in south Texas

In sum, make sure to read reviews, compare pricing, maintenance and service warranties when shopping for Solar Panels near your area.

For some time, the notion of installing solar panels has been a hot topic among American homeowners — and Texas is no exception in that regard.

The laymen’s consensus is that solar energy panels are great at cutting down on your expenses — but how does all of this actually work? Is it worth it to make this sort of investment in your home? We’ll explore the advantages of solar energy in Texas thoroughly below!

The Economics of Solar Panels in Texas

During a previous couple of years, solar energy and panels have become a part of mainstream culture. There are a couple of facts that just about everyone knows about solar energy:

  • It really works
  • It’s trustworthy
  • It pays off
  • It’s eco-friendly

These four things are enough for a lot of people to be convinced of the advantages of solar energy in Texas.

But many remember reading about solar panels more than ten years ago and deeming them too expensive for the average homeowner.

What has changed since then, and why is solar energy in Texas suddenly more affordable?

Affordable Solar Energy

In reality, this isn’t something that’s specific to Texas; it’s the consequence of a trend that’s been going on since 2009 all across the country. In that year, the price of manufacturing a solar panel started dropping significantly; in a large part due to the development of bigger manufacturing capacities that allowed a more efficient production cycle.

However, another big factor that led to solar panels in Texas becoming cheaper is the fall of prices on crystalline silicon; the main material used to manufacture a single solar cell.

And because of this, the ROI (return on investment) on any kind of solar energy investment has increased substantially. In the past, the manufacturing cost for a solar panel made up an incredible 60% of the installation expenses; today, that number is down to less than 30% on average.

This sort of affordability has made solar energy viable for the average Texan homeowner — especially when we consider the safety of the investment. In fact, think about it — any kind of energy investment depends on the source of energy. And what’s more secure than the Sun?

In comparison, traditional power companies seem to be a far less secure choice. If you were to move to your new green Texas hometown and decide to go with a power company, that’s an option as well; but you need to bear another thing in mind — price elasticity of demand.

Price Elasticity of Demand

There are many principles and measures that influence and govern supply and demand on any market — and solar panels are no exception in that regard. In this specific example, the price elasticity of demand is something important to understand.

This is a measure that quantifies how changes in price influence the demand for a certain product or service. And yeah, all of that may seem too wordy — so let’s put it in simpler terms.

Let’s say that Netflix changed its price so that their service costs double what it costs now. It’s very likely that people would stop subscribing because that’s just too steep.

Conversely, think about what would happen if oil prices soared in the same manner. Sure, people would be devastated — but most of them would still buy gas for their cars because they need it to get around.

Gas prices have low price elasticity because the changes in prices don’t influence consumer demand — this is mostly true for elementary goods and services, including power.

On the other hand, online streaming services are something people can do without — so such services have high price elasticity because it influences demand substantially.

But how does low price elasticity for power utilities affect solar panels in Texas? It makes them the most secure type of investment when it comes to power.

Sure, buying power from an electrical utility company may be simpler and may require less of an upfront cost; but what’s to stop utility companies from raising their prices in the next ten years? And there would be nothing you could do about it — at the end of the day, you need electricity in your home.

Installing solar panels allows you to be more self-sufficient, and less reliant on external economic factors. This is definitely a long-term investment, but one that is the likeliest to pay off.

Lower Operating Costs

Every home is accompanied by a number of operating costs — including insurance, property tax, maintenance, and payments for utilities. These can vary greatly depending on your home’s location, age, and size.

On average, utility payments represent at least 10% of your annual operating costs — a lot of which consists of your payments to a power company. If you install solar panels in Texas, your costs in this regard will go down significantly over the course of the next five years.

Tax Reductions

Apart from giving you long-term savings, one of the advantages of solar energy in Texas is the federal tax incentive you get. Since 2015, you can get an energy tax credit as a homeowner who uses solar panels.

If the property where you’re installing solar panels is your residence, the extends up to 26% of your installation costs for the solar panel.

A Greener Environment

Finally, the benefits found in using solar panels in Texas aren’t just related to your personal finances.

At the end of the day, solar power is a form of clean energy — and using it means contributing to a healthier environment and a greener Earth; for both yourself and your children.

Conclusion

There are plenty of advantages of solar energy in Texas and across the country as well — you’d do well to jump on the solar power train as soon as possible!
