About Meals on Wheels San Antonio
Meals on Wheels San Antonio was established in 1977 and is celebrating its 45th-anniversary thanks to continued public-private partnerships. Since its inception, Meals on Wheels has delivered 22 million meals, supported 200,000 volunteer hours, and delivered 100,000 pounds of pet food to the pet companions of MOW clients.
Now, Meals on Wheels volunteers and staff visit more than 4,500 clients’ homes in Bexar and eight surrounding counties each weekday to deliver more than a meal. Through various services, Meals on Wheels supports at-risk, isolated clients by providing them nourishment, independence, and care that enables them to stay safe and comfortable in their homes.

“Recently we did solar for Meals on Wheels and when I seen the operation and what they are doing for the elders in our community I said we could do something to help seniors in the community if we had a program like this. So we decided we would do a donation and create the program. We are hoping to do 5000 meals for MOW.”

“Thank you to South Texas Solar Systems for thinking of the older and disabled neighbors we serve,” said Vinsen Faris, Meals on Wheels San Antonio CEO. “The ‘Solar for a Senior Program’ will help deliver more than a meal for the thousands of people we see every day. It’s not only about the food. It’s about the friendly visit and the safety check, which is especially important during these long, hot summers.”
